The Masters Tournament, one of only 4 professional golf championships, is held annually at the Augusta National Golf Club. The tournament was created by Bobby Jones after his retirement from golf in the early 1930s, with the help of Clifford Roberts. Winners receive an iconic green jacket. Past winners include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Jack Nicklaus.

The Augusta GreenJackets are the minor league affiliate of the San Francisco Giants baseball team. Named for the Masters Tournament prize, the green jacket, they play at the Lake Olmstead Stadium.

The Augusta Rugby Football Club was started in 1973 as a distraction for overworked medical students and today is the place to go if you're interested in joining the sport.

The Augusta Riverhawks are the minor league hockey team that plays for the Southern Professional Hockey League at James Brown Arena.

For the avid golfer, there are plenty of courses in the Augusta area. Disc golf is another somewhat-related sport that is very popular here. Bike and kayak tours are a popular, fun activity for the whole family to explore the area as well.

Hunting: The Georgia Department of Natural Resources issues licenses for deer, bear, turkey, feral hogs (with wide seasons and very light restrictions), alligator, bobcat, fox, grouse, opossum, quail, rabbit, raccoon, and squirrel. Coyotes, armadillos, groundhogs, beavers, starlings, pigeons, and English sparrows have no limit and no closed season. Trapping for mink, otter, fox, raccoon, opossum, muskrat, skunk, bobcat, and weasel from December 1 to Feb 28, with no closed season for trapping coyote and beaver. Check the Georgia Department of Natural Resources website for details.

Fishing in Georgia: The state has considerable natural and stocked rivers, creeks, and lakes, both natural and stocked, and fishing on the Georgia coast. Available fishing including bass, catfish, crappie, pickerel, shad, sunfish, trout, and walleye, in freshwater or saltwater.
