Family housing offers more than 1,000 family units that are privatized and operated by Balfour Beatty Communities. New homes have been built over the last few years offering on post residents, homes with garages and fenced backyards. If residents are eligible for BAH, that money must be turned over to the GMH Military Housing. Single personnel will be housed in the barracks depending on rank and unit. There are many off-post housing options including apartments in the nearby community of Augusta. Rent tends to be below national average as the cost of living in Augusta is lower.
